WSET L2 in Wine by IWEC

Wine and Spirits Education Trust Level 2 In Wines and Spirits hosted by the IWEC For individuals seeking a core understanding of wines, this qualification explores the major grape varieties and important wine regions in which they are grown. You’ll learn about the styles of wines produced from these grapes as well as key classifications and labelling terminology. A basic overview of the key categories of spirits and liqueurs will also be provided. Upon successful completion you will receive a WSET certificate and lapel pin, and will be able to use the associated WSET certified logo.

SASA LEVEL 1 JNR. SOMMELIER

The course covers the basic elements of wine service that is expected to be handled comfortably by hospitality professionals according to international standards, including; preparations for service, wine service procedures, good practice, wine faults, client interaction, break-down and preservation after service. The course is taught over two days, followed by a third day of examination independently administered by the South African Sommelier Association.

WSET L3 in Wine by IWEC

An advanced level qualification for professionals working in the wine industry and for serious wine enthusiasts. For individuals seeking to delve deeper into the world of wines, this qualification provides a detailed understanding of grape growing and wine making. ​Upon completion you will be able to assess wines accurately, and use your understanding to confidently explain wine style and quality. Upon successful completion you will receive a WSET certificate and lapel pin, and will be able to use the associated WSET certified logo.

SASA LEVEL 2 ​SOMMELIER COURSE

This course provides intermediate training for young sommeliers aspiring to go further and manage their own beverage programmes. It has been carefully constructed and is constantly updated by professional members of SASA. It is taught over a period of four days covering the practical aspects of the trade as well as the managerial back-of-house elements followed by a firth day of examination independently administered by the South African Sommelier Association

WSET L4 Diploma in Wine by IWEC

A specialist level qualification providing expert level knowledge in all aspects of wine and spirits. The WSET Level 4 Diploma is WSET’s flagship qualification and will provide you with an in-depth knowledge and understanding of wines and spirits. Topics covered include wine and spirit production, wine regions and styles, and the global trade in wines and spirits. The diploma is also universally viewed as the stepping stone to the Master of Wine qualification. Upon successful completion you will receive a WSET certificate and lapel pin, and will be able to use the post-nominal DipWSET and associated WSET certified logo.

Association de La Sommellerie International Diploma Examination

This is the highest level currently endorsed by SASA, formed around self-studied with supportive mentoring from senior SASA members. It is an outcome-based level where the only requirement is to pass the examination of the International ASI Sommelier Diploma which consists of one test only held once a year, covering a practical dining room scenario, a blind tasting and theory that could cover the whole world of wine and all other beverages such as spirits, cocktails, teas, coffee, sake, cigars, cheese, etc and a theory level in line with WSET Level 4 or the Court of Master Sommeliers Advanced Sommelier Certificate.
